Free Text-to-Video Generators: 3 Open-Source Creative AI Tools Tested

We’ve tried three different open-source and completely free text-to-video AI generators. All of them can be tried out on the web, without any technical knowledge.

Text-to-video generators use artificial intelligence to transform written text into immersing video content. Users can quickly generate videos without needing any video production skills, making these tools accessible to almost anyone.

In our test, we fed three different generative models the same text prompt:

“A cappuccino with latte art in the form of a swan being served on the bar of a third wave specialty coffee shop in nordic style in downtown berlin.”

Mochi 1

Genmo’s Mochi 1 does an excellent job with this prompt. The clip is smooth and looks realistic. However, the way the hand is oddly holding the cup makes this clip less suitable for commercial use or serious social media post… Read full text

PyramidFlow’s version is quite peculiar. A swan-like figure emerges from the cappuccino cup, and the video’s foreground is just a still image. The only positive feature of this clip is the out-of-focus people in the background, which look almost lifelike.

PyramidFlow can also accept a still image as input, which allows it to generate new clips alongside a prompt. The output resolution is 768p.
