The concept is very popular in Japan, with Tokyo being home to at least 58 cat cafés as of 2015. In recent years cat cafés have popped up in many large cities around the world. Summer toboggan has many names and forms and is often called mountain coasters, alpine slides or coasters, and Sommerrodelbahn in German. The first summer toboggan rides were built in the 1970s.
