Cat cafés have been around for over 20 years. “Cat Flower Garden” – the world’s first cat café – opened in 1998 in Taipei, Taiwan. The concept is very popular in Japan, with Tokyo being home to at least 58 cat cafés as of 2015. In recent years cat cafés have popped up in many large cities around the world.
